Historic Run: Barr-Reeve Boys Cross Country Advances to the State Finals The Barr-Reeve Boys Cross Country team etched their names into school history this fall with a remarkable postseason run that captured the attention of fans across southern Indiana. The Vikings claimed the Jasper Sectional Championship and followed that up with a fourth-place finish at the Angel Mounds Regional, earning a coveted spot in the IHSAA Boys Cross Country State Finals. This marks just the second time in school history that a Barr-Reeve Cross Country team has advanced to the state meet. Even more impressively, Barr-Reeve stood out as the only Class 1A school among the 25 elite programs to qualify for the 2025 State Finals, showcasing the team’s grit and determination against much larger schools. The Vikings’ sectional title at Jasper was fueled by a tightly packed scoring group that led to a comfortable victory. At the Angel Mounds Regional, the team once again rose to the challenge, running one of their strongest collective races of the season to secure the fourth spot to qualify for the state meet at Terre Haute. For the runners, coaches, and community, this historic achievement represents more than just fast times and trophies — it’s a testament to perseverance, teamwork, and the heart of small-school athletics.
